Welcome back friends! We’ve made it to the home stretch! It is Month 9 - the last month of the Words to Live By BOM! My name is Jenni Wingenroth of Nollie Bean and I’m back to wrap up this quilt with you!
Let’s take a quick moment to take note of how much you’ve accomplished with this quilt. Did you learn a new skill or sew up something you haven’t sewn before? Is there a particular block that was your favorite?
There’s a special place in my heart for half square triangles, and working on block 12 with you last month might be my favorite.
This month we’re making our last two blocks - which are essentially the centerpiece of this quilt - and then sewing it all up!Once you’ve cut out all of your pieces using the instructions at the top of page 16, let’s jump right in with Block 15.
For Block 15, we’ll be making four large and colorful flying geese. Begin by placing your 2 3/8” x 15...

Please note a pattern correction on page 15:
Month 8, Page 15, Block 13, Step 9
The step should read:
9. Place the remaining (4) units created in Step 6 onto your station so that the seam between Fabrics J and N is located on the left, and the seam between Fabrics J and I is located on the right. Place (4) 1 1⁄2” x 18 1⁄2” Fabric A strips below the units, and (4) 1 1⁄2” x 18 1⁄2” Fabric E strips above the units.
Please note, the diagram under step 10 is incorrect.
When finished with steps 7 through 10, you should have two sets of four (4) sashing units that mirror one another (as pictured below).
Hi friends, and welcome to Month 8 of the Words to Live By BOM! My name is Jenni Wingenroth of Nollie Bean and I’m excited to work on Months 8 and 9 right along with you!
Before we dive in, I’d like to take a quick moment to introduce myself. I’m a mom, runner, quilt pattern writer, and quilter who...

Hello quilters, and welcome to Month 7 of the Words to Live By BOM! I had quite a nice time creating Block 11 from Month 7. It was short and sweet. The year is moving along, and spring is in sight. This block felt like spring to me. The gold, coral and pink colors, the florals, the bouquet in the panel, and pops of blue reminded me of fresh spring air, sunshine and gardens growing. I didn’t plan it this way, purely coincidental, but this block is perfect for the start of spring!
Spring is also a time of rejuvenation. And the message behind this panel is perfect for rejuvenation and growth. “Take a Deep Breath. Exhale. (You’ve Got This) Inhale.” A beautiful reminder to be kind to yourself, practice self-care and to keep growing this spring.
What are you doing to be kind to yourself this spring?Month 7 features simple sewing techniques that have been practiced and mastered throughout this BOM such as flying geese unit assembly...

Hello quilters, and welcome to Month 6 of the Words to Live By BOM! This month features a unique and interesting Star Block (Block 10) that perfectly accents the featured Butterfly Panel. I choose this selection of gold, blue, black and pink low volume prints from the Words to Live By Collection by Stacie Bloomfield to perfectly accent the delicate butterfly. And boy does this block shine and soar! This panel is exquisitely drawn with so many tiny details. You can certainly tell that this butterfly was drawn with love, patience, and attention to detail. The tiny line drawing details on the wings and body give the butterfly so much texture. The thin twirly antennas are dainty and sweet. I really enjoyed my time ironing, trimming, and preparing this panel. It’s a beauty! So far, Month 6 is the only month that features 1/8” measurements. 1/8” measurements tend to get a bad rap from quilters because sometimes the measurement lines are hard to...

Hello quilters, and welcome to Month 5 of the Words to Live By BOM! I may say this every month (there are so many wonderful blocks and panels!), but Month 5 features my absolute favorite block and panel. I enjoyed making this block so much, it brought me joy. I hope it brought you a bit of sunshine during these gloomy winter months.
Let’s dive right in with the gorgeous hand illustrated sun created by Stacie Bloomfield. I have to admit, this panel was hard to trim up! Not due to complexity but because I wanted all the glorious golden detail around the perimeter of the sun panel. So, one of my goals with this block was to create and continue the golden sunshine rays and incorporate them into the piecing. Of course, we have the perfect golden accent fabric (Fabric K) and a low volume white with golden detail (Fabric Q) to help us create that!
Before we start our strip set, let’s talk about fussy cutting.
When trimming a panel down...

Hello quilters, and welcome to Month 4 of the Words to Live By BOM! The blocks included in this month feature simple techniques such as stitch and flip and HST unit assembly, but they offer complexity and intricacy to the bottom right corner of this quilt! Lots of little pieces to assemble this month, but I promise that it is worth it.
Let’s talk about the Month 4 panels!
When Stacie approached me with the initial panel concepts, I was interested in the Schoolhouse panel immediately! Anything resembling a house, I adore. I’m constantly drawn to architectural art, quilts and quilt blocks. I can’t get enough of quilty house blocks, cityscapes, and nostalgic architecture quilt accents such as this schoolhouse!
The black bear is bold, tough, and STRONG. I’ve named her Rosie after Rosie the Riveter! Not only does she provide a strong element to this quilt, she’s delicate and feminine with floral illustrations mimicking Fabric F...

Welcome to Month 2 of the Words to Live By BOM! Once again, I am Natalie Crabtree, designer and writer of this BOM. It’s been my pleasure to work with Stacie and collaborate with her team on this project.
First and foremost, I apologize for my tardiness on this Month 2 blog. What can I say? Life, work, children…..all the above. But I am here to say that I look forward to watching your stack of blocks grow as you sew along with us. We value you, your business, and we value the community that you are taking part of.
To make it up to you, how does a free project sound? I absolutely LOVED making and designing Block 3. Something about the rotation and movement in that block made me think of evolving, growing and changing. Included in the Month 3 blog will be a free PDF download pattern that will help you create a whole quilt using Block 3! See the quilt image below. It will include everything you need to create this lovely, scrappy quilt...

Introduction
Welcome to the Words to Live By BOM Quilt-A-Long! My name is Natalie Crabtree, quilt pattern designer and pattern writer. I have been honored to work alongside Stacie Bloomfield and her wonderful team for over 2 years now. Throughout those two years we’ve designed dozens of quilts, exchanged many emails and messages about how to bring fun and creative projects to our customers (you), and how to continue producing the fun and whimsical Gingiber spirit that you know and love.
Fabric and quilt pattern design are two creative outlets that are somewhat secretive by nature. Sometimes Stacie and I work months (and even up to a year) on projects before we can introduce them to you. We anxiously design and hope that it is received well, and that is resonates with customers when it is finally released.
That is what is so special and unique about the Words to Live By fabric collection and quilt.
When Stacie and I first begin talking about a...
HELLO, FRIEND!
I bet you’ve walked through your favorite retail store or shopped online, and said to yourself, “I would LOVE to design for this company… but HOW do I get my work in front of the right people? How do artists and designers land those big collaborations? It feels so mysterious.”
I remember thinking the exact same thing. Years ago, my dream collaboration was with a company called “The Land Of Nod”, but I had no idea how to get seen by them. That is, until one day I got really brave, drafted an email, and PITCHED MYSELF to their Creative Director.
That email changed the course of my career.
I got a reply and began designing the first of several collections for that company. And that collaboration led to my being able to work with other brands such as West Elm, Moda Fabrics, Chronicle Books, and many more.
I want to help YOU to find your dream collaborations and land them with the help of this guide. As you read through it, imagine...
